2. Cameroon African Breakfast: Fried plantains and eggs
Cameroonians have different breakfast recipes. Fried plantains and eggs are just one of them. Cameroonians sometimes fry their eggs with vegetables like; leeks, capsicums and onions. These looks and taste so delicious and kids are always in awe when this is on the table. The varieties of vegetables gives this recipe a certain level of fluffiness, thats the consistency i am looking for. You can enjoy this with a cup of coffee or tea and milk . 3. Nigeria: Akara
This Nigerian breakfast is deep-fried and made from peeled black-eyed beans and cooked with spices. Though typical as a breakfast, this is a great snack that can be eaten at any time of the day. It is often eaten with pap(ogi), a custard made from corn.

4. Ghana: Ampesi, Pumpuka, or Kenkey
Unlike the Tanzanian breakfast, Ghanaian breakfasts tend to be heavier. A typical breakfast food found in Ghana is called Ampesi. This dish consists of cassava, cocoyam, yam, and a plantain mixture that’s boiled with fish and onion. Pumpuka, a second breakfast item, is made from ground millet. Another typical dish is Kenkey; this breakfast food may be eaten at any point during the day and consists of ground cornmeal soaked in water and then fermented for two days before being rolled into a ball. Once it is in ball-form, it is boiled, wrapped in plantain leaves and served with stew or fish.

5. South Africa: Putupap, mealie, or beskuit
Some kinds of breakfasts that can be found in South Africa include putupap (a cornmeal porridge that is very similar to grits), mealie bread or corn bread, or beskuit—a crispy, sweet bread that is very similar to rusk. As usual, breakfast is not without a cup of coffee or tea!

6. Cote d’Ivoire: Alloco
It’s made from plantains (green bananas), which are cut up into bits or slices, then deep fried until they’re super brown and crispy. The serving is usually large and they’re soaked in oil, so you know eating them will make your arteries cry (but of course you do it anyway because they’re so yummmm). They have a touch of sweetness which makes them a nice change from french fries, plus they’re softer and chewier too. You see this eaten a lot more at nights, usually with the all the chickens being grilled around town. The locals love it.

7. Senegal: lakh
This millet porridge is called lakh and it’s the traditional breakfast across Senegal. It’s really heavy and in olden days was perfect for keeping farmers full all morning in the fields. If you’re a working stiff with a desk job, though, it’s a bit of a soporific, so these days in Dakar a baguette with Nutella or Chocopain (the Senegalese equivalent, made with peanuts instead of hazelnuts) is a more typical morning meal.
